I miss my lady

Shes been gone a little more then the weekend.
Its crazy how much someone can add to your everyday life. its amazing how just having that special person out for coffee can make your day, or when she stops into the studio to say hello, the way I light up when I see her face. You don't realize how much that person effects you until shes gone...for the weekend.
Its amazing to be in Love with her. She's my favorite! I am a lucky man.
I'm excited for dinner with her tonight!

The Mayor and I talking trash on the Celtics. Talking Long Beach politics and possibilities of a much needed $571million dollar bond... you know just passing time.
I followed him around for a half day, photographed him making speeches, in a boardroom meeting, cutting a ribbon at a property unveiling and documented him riding public transportation. Our mayor is pretty legit. Plus I workout at the gym with him... He's as strong as an OX.

I'm sure you saw it. (If not its right there...above)
I saw it about 200 times, on the news, on the front page of NYtimes, LAtimes, the local paper. The photo is everywhere! (And incase you missed it...heres the Story) (Not to mention, its now on my blog.)

I find it interesting how whoever edited this image wanted there to be 4 missiles and not just 3. Or is that really it? Did whoever edit the photo actually photoshop the whole thing??? I mean why else would they make it soo obvious that part of it was photoshopped? I mean who would call the bluff twice? (Besides me)
I think that this image is fake.

I did some editing of my own as well. Heck why not make the whole world freaked out and use this photo all over the media? Its crazy how much our world is effected by media. How much of it is actually real and what percentage is manufactured for money?

Mammoth Road Trip

This last weekend, my brother Ira and I hopped in his 1989 bright blue Landcruiser and headed north towards Mammoth Lakes. We were scheduled to photograph a sexy mountain/lodge style/cozy wedding on Saturday, but first document the rehearsal dinner at "The Mccoy Station" on the middle of Mammoth's ski slopes! Anyways, I'm getting ahead of myself... there are alot of things I could write about, I could talk about the wedding we photographed (actually I just assisted) or I could write about the Lakers Beating the Hornets AND the Spurs for a huge closeout on their amazing season(They took #1 playoff seed in the strong west tonight) wait, why am I talking about basketball? I could also talk about how Ira and I snowboarded from 9:30am-3pm (on Sunday) without resting, yes even after a pretty insane crash that Ira still has mental pictures of me re-twisting my ankle after landing a jump wrong, or how it was soo hot on the whole mountain that I wore a short sleeved shirt the whole time (And got a full red-necked style arms...aka farmer tan) Anyways... I just want to tell you about the road trip... and for that, I will show you pictures... afterall, thats the best way to tell a story isn't it???


HIGHLIGHTS:
Watching the Lakers torch the then #1 Hornets
Checking the score on the iPhone (while riding a chair lift) seeing the lakers torch the then #2 Spurs.
Having some brother time
Assisting Ira on a shoot (haven't done that in over a year!)
Spending the night in a cabin with snow covering the windows (but melting quickly! It was HOT! for a mountain!)
stopping at Shady style "Gus's Jerky" (don't buy anything there if you decide to stop...unless its honey...but forget the jerky! Tastes like salted Cardboard but stringy.)
Doing math on my iPhone while driving (I could drive 1 mile in 47 seconds going exactly 80Mph, thats roughly 112 feet per second! Also, I could calculate how many feet before we entered LA from the freeway midway home. 230 miles= 10,830 more seconds of driving at 80MPH...I'm sure you already think I'm crazy, but hey! I don't usually like math, but that was fun!)
Snowboarding with a t-shirt on...oh, pants were in place as well... that would be plain stupidity... especially if you're me and you love falling hard.

La Playa 2

Feb 3,2008 Habana, CUBA

I spent yet another day on a Cuban beach! Which means another 2 hours of crowded bus rides...(from Hedado to the south eastern beaches) and this time I mean it was CROWDEDDDDD!!! I am literally making a statement in saying that I would breathe the breath of at least 2 new people everytime I inhaled... it was like a rolling box of humans, nothing but humans... i imagine being hauled to jail would be a somewhat similar feeling, except at that point you don't have to fake like you're enjoying it.

This was a highlight of the trip.
and the highlights inside the best day include:

1. Havana Club white rum (mixed with lime sodapop...mmmhmmm!)
2. Getting berried in the sand. (I would show pictures, but they are too graphic in terms of particular sand phallus' they attached to my sand body)
3.Ummm...the topless cuban women...(Sorry you had to read that mom)
4.The water. It was beautiful!
5.Getting to know my cuban friends more.
6.Relaxing and getting tan and then really tan and then burnt. (I wasn't that burnt and it quickly turned into a golden tan.)

YES! i was as happy as I look.

It was a fun day and it was topped off with more homemade food, relaxing in the girls bunk bed rooms and watching the coast erupt from the crashing waves against the brakewall.

Tomorrow I return to Mexico City...I'm sad...but excited to return to Long Beach in 2 days!

Havana: The Students.

I went looking for my young friends I met on the street. They told me what building when I met them. They must have said good things to their building mates because when I got there the people standing outside immediately knew who I was.
I didn’t meet up w/ the original crew but met one similar and 3 of the 6 knew a little English!!!(how refreshing to speak in my native tongue for the first time in 4 days!)
With the new crew 6 cuban's and me, we grabbed food & cerveza at a local outdoor cafe near the highway looking out towards Florida ( this was the best meal I’ve had all week!) arroz con pollo w/ dried platanos tons of picante caliente sauce & all for pretty cheap! (the whole group couldn't believe how much I could eat.)
We then jumped on a little train like bus & toured old Habana, singing the whole way, when we got off after about 35 minutes it was about 11pm.
After sitting on the ledge overlooking the ocean for a while we then went Salsa/Reggeton (don't know if that mixes well, but after some cuban rum, it doesn't matter) So Dancing at the "university disco" on the 8th floor of their building.
After 2 and a half hours of dancing then resting, dancing then resting, I had to get some sleep! They all ended up walking me 20 blocks to my home @ 2:30am. They said I live in a dangerous zone. The end of a fun night... plans tomorrow of meeting them for lunch! I'm so happy to meet some fun people my age with relaxed personality's and honest and good hearts. I feel like I've known these students for years and its only been 5 hours! Good night Feb 2nd.





Like I said, I was hungry! I impressed them all with how much I eat.

At 9:01am, my assistant Jon came into the studio and threw this morning's Press Telegram on my desk... I looked at him with a slight curiosity, slight disgust (due to the cover page being titled "A hideous accident") I started reading the front page article and was quickly corrected by Jon

"No,not the front page! try page 2"

I looked and there I saw a picture I had taken last Saturday (while shooting for a Long Beach Photo contest) the image is of a runner's silhouette with a lifeguard tower in the background(see attachment)... My first reaction was excitement, my second reaction was excitement and then my third was...I need to get to work telling people about the photo exhibit this Saturday (tomorrow!).

So here goes....
Justin Rudd is a good friend of mine who is always motivating people to get off their couches, turn off their direct TV and do something to benefit the community and themselves.
He was recently named Grand Marshal of the Belmont Shore christmas parade, as well as the 2007 Long Beach Person of the Year by LBpost.com, he is constantly bettering the community by arranging beach clean ups, Spelling Bee's and beach workouts, anyways, I'm getting overwhelmed just thinking about writing everything he's done... heres his site if you want to see for yourself www.justinrudd.com
